Carefree Couple – Sarah and David

Sarah-and-DavidThis past Saturday I had the pleasure of ensuring Sarah and David had a Carefree wedding reception.  The ceremony was held at All Saints Church near the UT campus.  There was no bridal party – just a processional of nieces, nephews, and the groom’s own boys.  David wore his military dress and Sarah wore a stunning gown – she looked like a bohemian version of a Greek goddess.  Gorgeous.

However I really come into this story for the reception.  The party was held a few hours after the ceremony at Albert Dance Hall in Albert, TX.  I encourage you to visit the website and check it out.  The dance hall is very barn like – with a band stand at one end and a large double open door at the other.  Sarah wanted to embrace the vibe of the venue so we used the picnic tables and barstools for guest seating and embelished tables with burlap and lace runners, mason jar flower arrangements, candles, and gourds, pumpkins, and maize.  It was simple.  It was fall.  And it was lovely.

Expecting about 20 children for the reception, it was important to Sarah and David to have entertainment for the kids.  We set up a game of corn hole which was enormously popular – though I’m not entirely sure they played it properly.  But they had fun so that’s what matters most, right?  The outdoor tables were set with burlap runners and a single large pumpkin on each.  Half the tables also included crayons, paper, markers, and colored pencils – many of which were also used to decorate the pumpkins.  But most exciting of all, Sarah’s wish for a pinata was granted and the children eagerly lined up and waited their turns – of course the Bride went first!

After the pinata the buffet provided by The Pig Pen was opened and everyone enjoyed brisket, pork sliders, and steamed vegetables while Weldon Henson and his band provided dinner music.  Guests had been encouraged to wear their Best Western outfits – Sarah had changed into a Mexican wedding dress and David changed into jeans and a black Western shirt.  Perfect for the two step lesson that was next on the agenda - lots of fun for their guests!  There was a simple but beautiful cake by Sophie’s Bakery accented with fresh flowers.  After toasts, the rest of the evening was filled with fun and dancing.

Sarah and David – I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.  Thank you for choosing me to help you have a Carefree wedding day.
